Roll-A-Thon 2008
HOW MANY ROLLS CAN YOU DO ?
On Tuesday September 30th Bend Aiki Martial Arts Kids Class will be holding it's 1st Annual ROLL-A-THON. The dojo will be open at 4pm and we will start at 4:30pm and go until around 6:30pm. The parents are encouraged to participate by helping count rolls, cheering on the kids and by helping to make it a fun time for everyone. The kids will be rolling for about 50 minutes in 10 minute intervals and we will be playing games in between. They will be looking to get sponsors by either pledges per roll or flat donations. The ROLL-A-THON will commence with prizes for: Most rolls; Most improved; Best form; Best attitude; etc.... and everyone will get a prize for not hurling. All of this will be followed by a pizza party !
Our goal is to have fun and raise money for the Kids Aikido Program. Part of this includes getting Brad & Brock to the Teaching Aikido to Children Workshop being held in October.
Bend Aiki Martial Arts (BAMA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dojo so all donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
We hope to see you all there !
The Roll-A-Thon was a huge success and everyone had a great time. All the kids did between 100 and 200 rolls and not a single one of them puked. Nice job ! 17 kids participated and almost as many parents helped out with the counting and cheering on of the kids. We also acheived our fund-raising goal so Brock and Brad made it down to the Bay Area for the Teaching Aikido to Kids Workshop, and back. We were also able to purchase a throw mat for the kids learning and enjoyment not to mention the teachers. There were 10 presenters and 40 participants at the workshop, all with a great knowledge and passion for teaching children. It was an educational and inspiring experience we won't soon forget. Thank you to everyone who participated and thank you parents for helping out ! Thank you Kimberly Teichrow for taking the photograghs and putting together the thank you card. And Thank you to Abby's Pizza for donating all the pizza for the pizza party that followed. We look forward to next year's Roll-A-Thon.
